The maternity incentive scheme supports the Maternity Safety Ambition by incentivising ten essential actions designed to improve the delivery of best practice in maternity and neonatal services.
In light of Covid-19 pressures on the NHS and maternity services, the maternity incentive scheme Collaborative Advisory Group (CAG) has been working to review the ten maternity incentive scheme safety actions to include additional elements that ensure key learning from important emerging Covid-19 themes are considered and implemented by NHS maternity services.
Revisions have also been made to safety action ten* and further standards have been added relating to assurance of compliance with the duty of candour for 2019/2020 births and ensuring families have received information on the role of the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch and NHS Resolution’s Early Notification scheme.
