NHS Resolution survey highlights benefits of Advice education

Date published:

NHS Resolution’s recent long term impact survey has found that our Practitioner Performance Advice (Advice) education programme is helping NHS organisations strengthen their approach to managing practitioner performance concerns, build organisational capability and support fair and proportionate decision-making.

The Advice Education Impact Survey gathered feedback from senior leaders working in organisations that have participated in Advice education programmes, including our Case Manager and Case Investigator training. Responses demonstrate the positive contribution education can make to improving local systems, processes and confidence in managing concerns effectively.

Nine out of ten respondents (90%) reported that Advice education had contributed to better outcomes in resolving performance concerns and improved organisational capability. In addition, ten out of ten respondents (100%) reported that the training had supported their organisation’s Case Managers and Case Investigators to manage performance issues proportionately and fairly.

The survey also highlighted a range of practical improvements organisations have experienced as a result of engaging with Advice education:

  • Increased access to trained Case Investigators and Case Managers.
  • Improved quality of investigation Terms of Reference.
  • Stronger frameworks to support Case Managers and Investigators.
  • Improved quality of investigation reports.
  • Better collaboration between HR professionals and clinical leads.

Respondents also shared examples of how they have applied the learning in practice.

As CEO I feel the Board has much greater assurance of our polices/procedures and frameworks as a result of the training. I believe we have robust framework in place.
