During Dr Budd’s career he was a member of the West Somerset Medical Research Ethics Committee and the West Somerset Postgraduate Education Committee. He was also accredited as GP trainer responsible for some 20 GP trainees and registrars and was a Lecturer at Taunton Vocational Training Scheme for General Practice.

Up until 2015 Dr Budd was an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners, MRCGP examination and more recently the new MRCGP (licensing) examination.

He is currently a member of Council and Cases Committee of Medical Defence Union. Dr Budd has also written over 2000 opinions on GP standard of care, instructed by both claimants and defendants, and as single joint expert on three occasions. He has also provided reports for Coroners and GMC proceedings and regularly gives expert evidence in court.
