About this event
This event is organised by Browne Jacobson.
Our next Shared Insights session will begin with a session on the learning from Operating Theatre claims. We will then go on to discuss the challenges faced by NHS Trusts as we seek to restore surgical and other services post-pandemic. We are delighted to be joined by:
- Sharon Fletcher, Associate Safety and Learning Lead at NHS Resolution.
- Mr Arthur Stephen, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Divisional Director for Surgical Services at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
Sharon has recently undertaken a thematic review of CNST operating theatre claims, looking at data for relevant claims between 2010 and 2020. This includes claims relating to incidents that occur in the Anaesthetic room, Operating theatre and Recovery room. Sharon will provide an overview of the costs of these claims (including a regional breakdown of settled claims), the top speciality areas for these claims and share the key themes and learning.
Mr Stephen chairs the Trust Harm Review Committee at UHDB and is the lead for surgical service recovery at UHDB. He will lead the discussion on the challenges Trusts are facing post-pandemic and invite Trusts to share concerns, learning and examples of best practice as we try to get back to business as usual.
