The following information was requested:
I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please provide, in relation to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, for the period 1 January 2016 to the present:
1. The number of clinical negligence claims notified to NHS Resolution where:
a. Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) is identified within the claim description, incident description, allegation, case summary, or other searchable case record; or
b. The primary allegation relates to delayed diagnosis, delayed MRI imaging, delayed referral, delayed treatment, or delayed decompression surgery for suspected or confirmed CES.
2. Of those claims:
c. The number that have closed with damages paid.
d. The number that have closed without damages paid.
e. The number that remain open.
3. The total value of damages paid in settled claims.
4. The total claimant legal costs paid in settled claims.
5. The total defense legal costs paid in settled claims.
6. Any anonymised thematic reviews, learning reports, case reviews, or safety publications produced by NHS Resolution that specifically reference CES claims involving University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
