Profile
Karen joined NHS Resolution as Associate Safety and Learning Lead for Midlands and East in January 2022. She graduated in 1989 with a BSc (Hons) in Speech Pathology and Language Therapeutics. In her speech and language roles she specialised clinically in working with children with special needs as well as managing Speech and Language Therapy Departments across adult and children’s services. She has led on service redesign, commissioning and delivery of new services and represented at regional forums on national projects including outcome measurement systems.
Karen is committed to safe, effective professional practice and standards that deliver high quality patient centred care. She has extensive experience of managing networks of professional leaders across allied health and nursing professions to promote these principles.
In her last post Karen was Associate Director of Quality with a portfolio across safety, effectiveness and experience in an integrated health and social care Trust. This position provided opportunities to work as part of the senior leadership team at a strategic level influencing programmes of work across the organisation, whilst maintaining strong partnership working with operational teams to effect change.
Karen has worked extensively to empower teams to make quality improvements through learning from incidents, complaints, quality visits and shared best practice. Particular interests lie in leadership and staff engagement and their contribution to an open learning culture in organisations.
