Sharon recently joined NHS Resolution as Associate Safety and Learning Lead. She was previously a Matron in Gynaecology and Obstetrics Theatres and Recovery as well serving in a Fertility Suite and Colposcopy/Hysteroscopy Clinic service at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Here, she provided leadership to the teams to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service and putting the patient at the heart of care. She has worked in Operating Departments for 23 years. She has also participated in the NHS Leadership Academy Frontline Managers Programme as well as completing the Mary Seacole Leadership Award. She is dedicated to the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients.
She has been a project manager for several areas during her Operating Department career ensuring that outcomes are delivered on time, to budget and, most importantly, of a high standard.
She has always been passionate about ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care and has acted as a role model during her career to ensure that teams are doing the right thing and making the right choices for patients and each other.
She has implemented a Quality Dashboard for Board presentation that demonstrates visually up-to-date compliance in areas that are critical to patient safety.
She has worked as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has participated in several inspections where she was able to access practice and provide expert opinion to ensure safety was upheld.
She has also worked as a work place mediator and believes that mediation is an essential tool to resolve issues and encourage resolution.
