Tracy Coates has extensive clinical experience in anaesthetics and post-anaesthetics care including management, education, clinical outreach and experience as a perioperative care matron. She was a president of the Association of Perioperative Practice.
Prior to her appointment she worked as an independent consultant undertaking commissions. This work mainly focused on perioperative never-event reviews, perioperative service reviews and patient safety reviews. Tracy has a professional interest in human factors and has undertaken organisational education in improving practice. This was in relation to the use of the five steps to safer surgery and never event reduction. Tracy received the Langton Hewer award for her services to anaesthesia and patient safety from the Association of Anaesthetists Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) in September 2011.
Tracy has been working at NHS Resolution as Safety and Learning Lead (Surgery and perioperative care) since March 2014, she also leads on the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) initiative and claims scorecards scheme.
