Abigail Fogarty joined as the Associate Safety and Learning Lead for London in October 2023. She graduated in 2015 from the University of Manchester in 2015 with a BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing. Abigail started her career working within an acute female inpatient unit with the NHS.
Abigail has a varied clinical background working across multiple areas including acute mental health, secure hospitals and within prison settings. She spent periods throughout her career working as an agency mental health nurse, spending a significant period working within A&E Liaison.
Progressing her career in Australia, she worked as an Associate nurse unit manager within a Forensic mental health hospital working on a male acute unit. She played a key role in ensuring quality improvement working closely with the unit manager. She provided training sessions on managing complex patients and had a central role in reducing restrictive interventions. Abigail further worked as a remote mental health nurse, where the focus shifted toward community integration and collaboration.
She was later seconded to the role of Clinical Services Manager in a secure hospital in London. She was involved in quality improvement projects and was dedicated to refining operational processes.
Her most recent role was working as an Enhanced Service Manager for a charity organisation. As part of the role, she worked within the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway, managing a team of Forensic Mental Health Practitioners. She led on service redesign and worked to ensure the services operated within a robust incident management framework in line with clinical and organisational governance.
Abigail is deeply committed to continuous improvement, effective risk management, and a passionate dedication to patient safety.
