The following information was requested:
I am preparing an article on medicolegal claims in Ophthalmology in England from 2018 to 2023. I would like you to provide the following data for this time period: the number of Ophthalmology claims in each year, how many were settled, and the costs associated with this in each year and the most detailed information you have on the cause of the claims i.e. wrong diagnosis, surgical complications, delayed treatment etc.
You previously provided me with this data for the period before 2018 and this is now a follow up article. The purpose of the article is to inform my fellow Ophthalmic Surgeons of the high-risk areas of our speciality in order to try to improve patient care and reduce the number of medicolegal claims against them.
