The following information was requested:
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act, can you please provide the following?
1. The number of physical assault claims that have been made by paramedics and ambulance staff in the past five years as a result of being harmed by members of the public or by patients while on duty? (Between March 31 – April 1). Broken down by years 2019/2020, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24.
1a) Can this also be broken down by Ambulance Trust (i.e. the number of claims made by staff per Trust)
1b) Can this be broken down by primary injury and again by primary cause.
2. Can you provide the number and cost of such claims closed (or settled with a periodical payment order) between financial years 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2023/24 with a damages payment?
2a) Can this be broken down by Ambulance Trust and type of Ambulance employee?
