On Wednesday 26 November, the Midlands and East safety and learning team hosted a collaborative webinar exploring claims data on venous thromboembolism (VTE) and work being undertaken to improve outcomes for patients who develop VTE.
The forum was aimed at both clinical and non-clinical professionals involved in claims, inquests, complaints, risk governance, education, improvement and patient safety from trusts, independent providers, ICBs and NHS England regions.
The programme covered:

- Insights from maternal VTE claims across the antenatal and post-partum pathway (Dr Bethan Percival, EN Obstetric Fellow, NHS Resolution)
- Nurse led DVT scanning (Liz Murray, Anticoagulation Nurse Practitioner/Sonographer and Service Manager, University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group)
- Improving safety and quality in VTE through targeted projects (Emma Gee, Nurse Consultant – Thrombosis and Coagulation, Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust)
