The following information was requested and clarified:

Under the Freedom of information Act 2000 I am requesting the following information regarding clinical negligence claims managed by the NHS resolution: For the last 10 financial years (2015/16 to 2024/25 inclusive), or the most recent 10 year period for which data is available.

1. The total number of clinical negligence claims notified or received where a staff or patient fall (or slip/trip/fall incident) was alleged or recorded and trailing medical leads, cables, tubing, wires, intravenous lines, monitoring equipment cables, or similar trailing connected medical equipment was identified as a contributing factor or cause in the laid description, incident notes, or supporting documentation.

2. If the exact wording above is not searchable via standard codes, please provide the closest available data using any related search terms or categories (e.g.,trip hazards from medical equipment, patient and staff accidents involving cables/tubes/leads, falls due to entanglements with medical devices).

3.For the claims identified in (1) or (2) above, please provide a breakdown by financial year of:

a) Number of claims notified/received per year

b) Number of claims settled settled (with or without admission of liability) per year

c) Total damages/ settlement payouts paid out per year (in GBP)

d) Total legal costs/defence costs incurred by the NHS per year (In GBP) if separately recorded
