If held electronically and retrievable through reasonable searches, I would be grateful if you could provide the following information for clinical negligence claims received between 1 January 2003 and 31 December 2026:
1. The number of clinical negligence claims in which the following terms appear within the claim summary, allegation, case description, or other searchable fields:
o “Fitzpatrick”
o “skin phototype”
o “skin colour”
o “skin color”
o “skin tone”
o “skin pigmentation”
o “pigmentation”
o “melanin”
o “Monk Skin Tone”
o “Individual Typology Angle”
o “ITA”
o Eumelanin Human Skin Colour Scale
o EHSCS
2. For each search term, please provide:
o the number of claims identified;
o the clinical specialty (where recorded);
o the year the claim was received; and
o the status of the claim (closed or open), if available.
3. If any validated skin colour assessment tool is routinely recorded within NHS Resolution’s databases, please provide the name of the relevant data field(s) and any guidance governing their use.
