The following information was requested:
I need to find out the total number of Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) cases that NHS Resolution has dealt with in the last 3 financial years. Please specify the number of CES claims as a percentage of all claims brought against NHS Trusts.
Please specify the number of CES claims, within the last 3 years, which were resolved without resorting to legal action – i.e. before a Claim Form was issued.
Out of the total number of CES cases, please state how many cases resulted in the payment of compensation, how many cases were discontinued against NHS Resolution, and how many are ongoing as of 1 July 2023.
Finally, please specify the total damages representing compensation pay-outs for CES cases. Please provide separate figures for the last 3 financial years.
