The following information was requested:
I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to please request the following information relating to claims made in the speciality of Gynaecology from financial years 2021/22 up to and including 2025/26, or the most recent data available for the financial year 2025/26:
1. The number of clinical claims/incidents made per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
2. The number of clinical claims/incidents settled per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
3. The number of clinical claims/incidents closed per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
4. The number of clinical claims/incidents that received payment per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
5. The number of clinical claims/incidents that received payment per year, per NHS Trust, per primary cause and injury, and per associated costs (damages paid, NHS legal costs paid, claimant legal costs paid, total paid).
6. The number of clinical claims/incidents that could not be settled or resolved and progressed to litigation/adjudication, per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
7. The number of unsuccessful (i.e. with nil damages paid) clinical claims/incidents with their associated NHS legal costs paid and claimant legal costs paid, per year, per NHS Trust, and per primary cause and injury.
