I’m planning on writing an academic paper regarding medicolegal claims in General Surgery over the last 10 years or so, and I understand you are part of the team to contact in order to obtain records for this in England….
I’m attempting to obtain the 2010-2020 (inclusive) data for general surgery medicolegal claims against the NHS in England. Obviously I don’t need specific identifying details; only the basic operation /circumstances, age, claim details, outcome / payout. That sort of data. The aim is to publish a reasonably contemporaneous retrospective review of the common operations and complications or other reasons for medicolegal claims to be brought against the NHS, so that
we may publish in a peer reviewed medical journal and attempt to raise awareness +/- change practice if possible with this knowledge in mind.
