Presently, the Medical Council of Ireland are reviewing policy regarding open disclosure (also known as duty of candour) in Ireland. Open disclosure is the discussion of adverse events between the clinician and the patient that result in harm to the patient while receiving health care. As part of the analysis, we are contrasting and comparing open disclosure policies in Canada, Australia, New Zealand the United Kingdom. In order to supplement our analysis, we wish to observe the litigation rates arising from adherence to open disclosure policy from these jurisdictions. I am hoping that you can assist me in providing the litigation rates for the United Kingdom.
