The following information was requested:
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information regarding maternity damages payments:
1) Total damages paid out (in £) in the specialty of ‘Obstetrics CP/BD’, broken down by parental income bracket, for the three most recent financial years for which data is available (e.g. 23/24, 22/23, 21/22 – or nearest years).
I understand parental income is an important factor used to calculate damages awarded for loss of future earnings, so this data should be held.
The brackets can be whichever are routinely used to record this data. If this data is not routinely grouped into brackets, then please use the following parental income brackets: £0 to £12,500 per annum, £12,501 to £30,000, £30,001 to £50,000, £50,001 to £80,000, £80,001 to £100,000, £100,001 to £125,000, £125,001 to £150,000, £150,000+.
2) The total number of ‘Obstetrics CP/BD’ cases in which damages were awarded in each relevant year (as above) for each of the parental income brackets (as above).
