The following information was requested:

Could you please provide me with a list of claims categorised under the specialty of neurosurgery (broken down into cranial and spinal neurosurgery) from inception of the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST) to date (18th November 2020)?

For each claim, please provide the following data-points:

1. Principal specialty area (e.g., cranial neurosurgery, spinal surgery)
2. Claim open or closed?
3. Where the claim is closed, was it withdrawn or settled out of court or litigated in court
4. Year of alleged incident
5. Location of alleged incident
6. Year of claim (notification date/year)
7. Claimant sex
8. Claimant age (broken down into five-year brackets)
9. Date and value of any payment made to the claimant and overall legal costs for claim
(broken down into defence legal cost, claimant legal costs and claimant payments/damages)
10. Cause and type of injury leading to the claim based on NHSLA classification(s)
11. Brief description of incident.
12. Member involved (specific NHS trust or organisation or non-NHS member involved).

EDI employees and cost (FOI_5683)

The following information was requested:

Please can your organisation provide the following information:

a) The number of roles in your association (expressed in numbers of FTE), that are mainly or exclusively focussed on issues of equality, diversity, or inclusivity. For example, this could include (amongst other guises) “EDI officers” or “diversity and inclusion project managers” but would not include general HR managers.

b) Either a) the pay band of each of these roles, or b) the combined total salaries for these roles. Whichever measure is more in accordance with your data preferences.

c) In the past 12 months, the number of staff days across your organisation which have been committed to attending equality training programmes, whether internally run or with external consultants. (staff days = duration of the training programme multiplied by the number of staff in attendance for the course). If unable to provide please mark as N/A in your return.

Antidepressants (FOI_5680)

The following information was requested:

I (…) was wondering if you hold data about successful claims related to anti-depressant use or consent around antidepressants – so side effects/not being aware of the harms/benefits or related to suicide if implicated in a coroner’s inquest etc.?

Is this data public or is there any way of getting it under FOI etc.?

Bedsores or Pressure Sore (FOI_5677)

The following information was requested:

  1. In the 2021/22 financial year how many patients successfully claimed damages after claiming that they suffered bedsores as a result of negligent treatment at the hands of the NHS?
  2. What was the total amount of damages paid as a result of these claims?
  3. How many patients who successfully claimed for bedsores also claimed for an amputation as a result of a consequence of suffering bedsores?

Please note the question relates to the year the payment was made irrespective of when the incident happened or when the claim was lodged.”

Oral and Maxillofacial surgery for University Hospitals of Leicester (FOI_5669)

Since Leicester Royal Infirmary was suspended from performing reconstructive maxillofacial surgery in 2016 by the Royal College of Surgeons:

  1. How many clinical negligence claims related to maxillofacial surgery have been brought forward against the hospital?

a. How many of these claims were successful and have been settled?
b. What is the total sum the hospital has paid out in compensation and legal fees?
