Ian Adams MBE is our Director of Corporate Affairs. Ian was originally appointed as Director of Membership and Stakeholder Engagement on joining the organisation in March 2016. He was made Director of Policy, Strategy and Communications in October 2023, then Director of Corporate Affairs in Dec 2024 when the directorate evolved to encompass Corporate Governance and Knowledge and Information Management.
He has undertaken leadership roles for national bodies, government agencies and the NHS, and has a background in communications, marketing and business development. Ian also serves on a number of outside boards, including as Chair of Public Voice CIC, Vice-Chair of Single Homeless Project, and as a Trustee of Amnesty International UK, Unite Foundation and the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion. He also has substantial local government experience as a former Councillor and past Lord Mayor of Westminster.
Ian holds an MBA (Distinction) from the University of Bradford and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Leadership Fellow at St George’s House Windsor. He featured in The Financial Times in 2018 as an OUTstanding LGBT+ executive role model, and advises a number of organisations on equality, diversity and inclusion.
