The London regional networking meeting on missed fractures took place on 18 March 2026 and brought together emergency medicine, radiology and orthopaedic colleagues to share learning on why fractures are missed and how to reduce harm.
The programme covered updated NHS Resolution claims insights, key guidance for suspected scaphoid and hip fractures, ED safety netting/recall systems and virtual fracture clinics, and experience of using AI to support fracture detection.
Key outcomes included agreement to strengthen shared pathways and governance, use claims insights to support local audit and improvement, and take forward follow-up actions including an updated missed fractures report and further work on the rise in ankle fracture claims.
