We manage 7 clinical claims schemes across both primary and secondary care, including:
- the Clinical Negligence Scheme for General Practice,
- the Existing Liabilities Scheme for General Practice and
- the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Coronavirus
We also manage 3 non-clinical schemes (including 2 risk pooling schemes for trusts).
Claims Management encompasses:
We offer free and impartial advice to manage and resolve performance concerns of doctors, dentists and pharmacists. Where a clinical performance or behavioural assessment might aid the resolution of the performance concern, these may be requested. Services include, but are not limited to:

We ensure the prompt and fair resolution of appeals and disputes between primary care contractors (including GPs, dentists, opticians and pharmacists) and NHS England. Services include, but are not limited to:
We draw upon claims data in order to learn from claims. We then share learnings across the health service nationwide to assist and encourage pre-emptive action and improvement. This includes publishing and collaborating on reports, reviews, booklets, leaflets, videos, podcasts and web content, a number of which are listed in our Resources section below, focused on primary care resources.
