Louisa is currently seconded to NHSR in the role of Associate Safety and Learning Lead for the North. Learning from serious untoward incidents has driven her passion for using quality and continuous improvement methodologies to improve the safety agenda, and healthcare outcomes for patients and their families.
Louisa graduated as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1992 and holds an MSc in Health and Social Care Management, BSc (hons) Healthcare Studies, BSc Open (General Science) and a CertHE Applied Psychology.
Louisa has extensive clinical experience and has held roles as Clinical Team Manager for a male mental health acute admission ward, Practice Development Nurse (Adult and Older People Mental Health), Continuous Improvement Lead (Forensic and Specialist Mental Health Services). Her most recent role as a Clinical Quality Manager in a Clinical Commissioning Group included a portfolio for supporting the local Acute Trust with their patient safety incident management and creating partnerships with healthcare provider organisations to develop pathway working. Louisa was a nominated Patient Safety Specialist within the CCG, and as such developed a Virtual Network to collaborate on the implementation of the NHSE Patient Safety Strategy across Place.
Louisa’s strategic approach to her work is one of collaboration and coproduction, with a specialist interest continuous improvement. Louisa is an Improvement Fellow with the Yorkshire and Humber Improvement Academy.
