Louisa Bradley is the Safety and Learning Lead (North) at NHS Resolution (NHSR), supporting organisations across the North of England to learn from experience and embed improvement. Joining the Safety and Learning team in 2021 as a secondee and now appointed permanently, Louisa focuses on translating insight from patient safety incidents into practical, system level improvements that benefit patients, families, and staff.
A Registered Mental Health Nurse starting in the NHS in 1988, Louisa combines frontline clinical credibility with proven improvement leadership. She holds an MSc in Health and Social Care Management, a BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Studies, a BSc Open (General Science) and a CertHE in Applied Psychology. Her master’s dissertation evaluated a Clinical Commissioning Groups’ Patient Experience policy and informed the creation of an “Experience of Care” approach—encompassing staff, family, and significant others—reflecting her belief that patients and families should be true partners with a voice in their care and services.
Her career includes roles as Clinical Team Manager for a male mental health acute admission ward; Practice Development Nurse across adult and older people’s mental health; and Continuous Improvement Lead for forensic and specialist mental health services, later encompassing the Adult and Older Adult services. Immediately prior to NHSR, Louisa worked as Clinical Quality Manager within a Clinical Commissioning Group, supporting the local Acute Trust’s patient safety incident management, quality assurance, and building partnerships to develop pathway working. As the CCG’s nominated Patient Safety Specialist, she convened a virtual network to progress the NHSE Patient Safety Strategy across Place.
Louisa’s strategic approach is rooted in collaboration and coproduction, with a specialist interest in continuous improvement. She is an Improvement Fellow and Gold trainer with the Improvement Academy and currently chairs the NHSR National Mental Health Network. Her areas of focus include:
- Human factors and systems-based approaches to incident analysis and learning
- Cross organisational partnership and pathway design
- Patient, family and staff engagement in safety improvement
