The following information was requested:

We are seeking information in respect of the last 4 years relating to the top 25 claimant law firms undertaking clinical negligence claims against NHSR.  (…)

We would therefore be grateful if you would specifically provide information relating to the top 25 claimant law firms by volume of claims submitted in relation to the following:

  • the number of claims in value across the value bandings £0-5,000, £5,000-£25,000, £25,000-£50,000, £50,000- £100,000, £100,000-£500,000, £500,000 -£1,000,000, £1,000,000 upwards;
  • the total damages paid in accordance with the above value bandings;
  • average profit costs per case in accordance with the value bandings;
  • the percentage/rate of cases litigated in accordance with the value bandings;
  • claimant firm costs (global costs inclusive of disbursements and VAT) relating to the value bandings;
  • details of the share of volume represented;
  • details of the share of damages; and
  • details of the share of costs.

1. What software do you use for your payroll, hr and finance solutions, how much annually do you spend on each, when does each contract expire?

Haemochromatosis (FOI_6471)

The following information was requested:

For the period 2018 to 2023 (or the most recent year for which data is available):

a) the number of claims made relating to genetic haemochromatosis diagnosis, treatment, care or medical negligence

b) the financial value of compensation awarded in those claims to date

c) the financial cost of legal fees relating to those claims.

I would be grateful to receive this data on an annual basis, electronically.

Data Protection Claims By Trust (FOI_6459)

The following information was requested:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act, please can you provide the following?

1. The numbers of data breach claims the NHS has received between 2021-now (up to and including any data held for 2024) Can this be broken down by the number of claims notified per financial year?

a) The number of claims per year broken down by successful/unsuccessful
b) The amount cost of claims in part a) per year.

A trust level breakdown of the information would be great.

NHS Hospital Treated Claims (FOI_6461)

The following information was requested:

The Number and damages for Claims Closed in financial year 2022/23 for
NHS patients treated in NHS hospitals.

Psychiatric and Psychological Damage (FOI_6458)

Please could I have both the volume and amount of claims for psychiatric and psychological damage for the past 5 years.

Do you also do a breakdown of volume and amount of psychiatric and psychological damage of claims by family members of a person who has been injured or killed as a result of medical negligence? If so, please could I have those?

Medication Error in children (FOI_6453)

The following information was requested:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act, can you please provide the following.

Requesting data between April 1st 2020 till March 2024.

1. How many medication error claims received by NHS Resolution between 1st April 2020 – (now March 2024) concerning children under the age of 18?
a) Of these claims, how many were settled with damages, how many without merit and how many remain open, broken down by year?
b) What is the total cost of closed claims? Broken down by year and broken down by; payments for claimant legal costs, NHS legal costs and damages.

2. What types of drugs were involved in paediatric medication error claims? Top 10 most prevalent drugs in claims?

3. What were the top 5 most prevalent causes for medication error claims? I.e. Incorrect dose administered?
