I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from you. Please may you provide me with:
1. The number of settled claims, broken down by the ethnicity of the medical practitioner responsible (where applicable) between the years 2012-2023.
2. The costs associated with claims by ethnicity – i.e. a breakdown of total damages and legal fees, by ethnicity 2012-2023.
3. The number of settled claims against international medical graduates between the years 2012-2023.
4. The costs associated with settled claims against international medical graduates- as before, total damages and legal fees paid 2012-2023.

We have checked your FOI disclosure log and can confirm that there is no record of the following questions having previously been asked. We would be obliged to receive full and frank answers:
1. What fee arrangement do you have with DAC Beachcroft Solicitors who handle litigation on your behalf? (please provide copies of retainer documents redacted if necessary if this is preferable to providing a full answer here)
2. Is such fee arrangement determined by virtue of the outcome of the litigation which DAC Beachcroft achieve on your behalf? If so, please specify how.
3. Bedsores or Pressure Sore (FOI_6314)
The following information was requested:
1. In the 2022/23 financial year how many patients successfully claimed damages after claiming that they suffered bedsores as a result of negligent treatment at the hands of the NHS?
2. What was the total amount of damages paid as a result of these claims?
3. How many patients who successfully claimed for bedsores also claimed for an amputation as a result of a consequence of suffering bedsores?
Please note the question relates to the year the payment was made irrespective of when the incident happened or when the claim was lodged.

Urology (FOI_6304)
The following information was requested:
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I would like to request data relating to claims made in the specialty of urology from financial years 2006/07 up to and including 2022/23. I would like to specifically request information on:
(i) the number of clinical claims/incidents made per financial year.
(ii) the number of clinical claims closed (or settled as a PPO) per financial year and the associated costs (damages paid, NHS legal costs paid, claimant legal costs paid) incurred per financial year.
(iii) Of all the clinical claims closed/settled during this period (2006/07-2022/23), a breakdown of the primary causes as well as the costs (damages paid, NHS legal costs paid, claimant legal costs paid) associated with each primary cause.
(iv) the number of unsuccessful (i.e. with nil damages paid) clinical claims during this period (2006/07-2022/23) with their associated NHS legal costs paid and claimant legal costs paid.
