Solicitor fined £30k for overcharging the NHS millions

Date published:

Andrew Good, joint owner of Hull law firm Rapid Response, was fined £30k for misconduct after a tribunal found that his conduct “was motivated by his desire for the clinical negligence department to be profitable” and that “in pursuit of that desire he lost sight of his professional obligations.”

NHS Resolution first reported its concerns to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in 2013, after which an investigation was launched.

Excessive and unjustified charging directly reduces the money available for patient care and NHS Resolution will not hesitate to report such cases to the SRA for investigation.

Two other colleagues were also part of this case. The tribunal placed Victoria Fear (Head of Legal) under a restrictive order regarding holding compliance positions and reprimanded. However, Danielle Park (solicitor) denied misconduct allegations and was cleared by the tribunal.
