On Tuesday 7 October 2025, NHS Resolution hosted a national webinar focused on tackling workplace violence (WPV) in the NHS. The event brought together speakers from NHS trusts and partner organisations to share the workplace violence report and how claims learning, local data analysis, implementing local violence reduction strategies, and being responsive to staff after incidents are helping create safer working environments for NHS staff.

The session was introduced by Naomi Assame, Deputy Director of Safety and Learning, and co-chaired by Justine Sharpe, Safety and Learning Lead (London). Speakers shared practical examples of how local tools and partnerships are being used to reduce violence, support staff, and drive system learning.

A key theme of the event was the value of triangulating claims data with local intelligence to drive targeted interventions, and the importance of post-incident staff support. The role of leadership, workforce training, and union collaboration also featured prominently in the discussions.

Topics covered included:

  • Using claims learning to improve staff safety
  • Forensic analysis using local data tools
  • Implementing local violence reduction strategies
  • Responsive staff support after incidents
  • Working with trade unions to reduce aggression
  • System-wide collaboration and insight sharing
